Sharing democracy with Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Near East

Edmonds Community College administers the Northwest Community College Initiative, a U.S. State Department funded program that brings scholars from from South Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Near East to Edmonds, Pierce, and Whatcom community colleges for professional training and cultural exchange.

Currently students from Brazil, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, India, Indonesia, and Pakistan are attending Edmonds CC as part of the Northwest Community College Initiative and studying Business Management, Desktop Support, Project Management, Health Unit Coordinator, and Hospitality and Tourism.

Recently, they took a trip to the state capitol in Olympia to experience U.S. democracy:



They also participated in cultural exchange during International Education Week, Nov. 15-19.
