Poetry instructor publishes book on mindful writing, The Pen and the Bell

Edmonds Community College English Instructor and poet Holly J. Hughes is co-author of a new book about the writing process with writer Brenda Miller, a Professor of English at Western Washington University.

The book launch for The Pen and the Bell: Mindful Writing in a Busy World will be 4 p.m., Sunday, May 20 at Village Books in Bellingham and a reading will be 7:30 p.m., June 28 at Eagle Harbor Books, Bainbridge Island.

Holly Hughes is the editor of the award-winning anthology, Beyond Forgetting: Poetry and Prose about Alzheimer’s Disease, published by Kent State University Press and the author of Boxing the Compass, published by Floating Bridge Press. She's a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University’s MFA program.

At Edmonds Community College, Holly co-directs the Sustainability Initiative and Convergence Writers Series.
