This December, join Seattle’s longest-running improv troupe,
Unexpected Productions, as they bring together 16 improv teams to battle it out
in an extreme improv comedy tournament 'Womb Escape', judged by you! The competition starts Sat., Dec. 1, 8:05 p.m.Tickets $10 (available online or at the door).
In this tournament, each team (4 per night) performs 4
sets of improvised comedy scenes. Audience cheers are what determines the
winners (so bring your friends!). The top 4 surviving teams come back to
compete in the ultimate showdown at 8:05 p.m., Saturday, December 22, in the
championship round. The winners not only gain the desired Womb Escape Trophy
but also pride, and the satisfaction of knowing that their quick wit and
ingenious humor gained them comedic respect in the eyes of improv
connoisseur's across the pacific northwest (…or that they had the most friends
in the audience)!
Wonder where the term ‘Womb Escape’ came from? The significance
of the tournament name, ‘Womb Escape’, which began in 2007, is the idea that
each team originally spawned from Unexpected Productions improv school and then
became successful groups on their own without the warmth and comfort of the
Seattle Theatresports’ "womb-like" Market Theater. It has
evolved into a tournament for anyone in the pacific Northwest with an interest
in performing improv. All experience levels are welcome!
